     Hello,

     August has been a great month for tourism. Many families from all over the U.S. have made the trip to Mount Ida for fun and excitement; the thrill of discovering beautiful gemstones at our mines and at our sluice.
     On Wednesday, August 11th a group from Japan made a special trip to Wegner’s to visit our Crystal Forest Mine. Everyone was pleased and we took photos for their group to have as souvenirs. It’s been a good summer for all.

     Also of interest on August 22nd we had an exchange student visit us by the name of Anh Dang who is a 16 year old girl from Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam, and is at Caddo Hills School where she is attending the 11th grade. She spent the afternoon here doing community service work.
    We were graced with a very complimentary article in the Living in Arkansas magazine edition #11 produced by the Arkansas Business Publishing Group. This widely distributed periodical appeals to people interested in Arkansas, perhaps to relocate here. It is a wonderful magazine offering information on the assets of interest in our natural state. On page 2a, the “Meet the neighbor’s article” featured myself, Richard Wegner, with a short biography on myself and our tourist business. Their opinion is that we are one of the most popular tourist attractions and educational field trip locales in the Ouachita Mountains.
